Locost mailing list. It is auto-posted once a month to the list, and
is sent to new arrivals when they subscribe. Please take a few moments
to familiarise yourself with the following notes:
1. The main subject is "Locosts". This means:- the building, sourcing of
parts, discussion of laws as applied to the construction and other
things in a similar vein. Off topic banter is permitted providing it is
kept to a MINIMUM and it includes (O/T) in the subject line.
2. Be mindful of other people's feelings. It is easy for a reader to
mistake your "tone of voice" in an e-mail. If you are discussing a hot
topic, hold the e-mail for a few hours after you've written it and
reread it later. Be careful of areas that could be misinterpreted.
3. Personal attacks are not permitted and will not be tolerated.
4. Trolling, or deliberate attempts to disrupt the running of the list,
whether by inflamatory postings or other means, will not be tolerated and
will result in the offending member(s) having postings moderated, and
if abuse continues, in the banning of that member from the group.
5. Please consider your actions before replying to any obviously inflamatory posting, usually this is exactly what the original poster wants. The best course of action in these cases is to ignore the original message. The moderators will take responsibility for any actions taken against the original poster.
6. Advertising - put AD or Advert in the subject line and keep it
reasonably short and Locost/Seven oriented, that way people can filter
out the ads if they don't want to see them. Keep the frequency of ads to
a minimum.
7. Where long conversations occur, by all means quote relevant portions
of the original conversation you are responding to (to show the
context), but please trim any unnecessary text.
8. Viruses - the Internet is constantly being flooded with information
about computer viruses and Trojans. However, interspersed among real
virus notices are computer virus hoaxes. While these hoaxes do not
infect systems, they are still time consuming and costly to handle.
Please don't spread unconfirmed warnings about viruses and Trojans
within the List. In the event that you receive a virus warning, go to
one of the many anti-virus sites to check if they are indeed legitimate
or in fact, a virus hoax.
9. Remember that there are over 1500 members in this list, you don't
need to answer every e-mail from other members. If you have direct
experience with a discussed subject, then by all means answer it, but if
you aren't sure or are only "guessing" leave it to others to answer -
someone will know the answer.
