Hi Marc,
Tunes stick in my head something awful - sometimes for 40 years!
That's why I had no trouble remembering Sheriff John. Actually, I
was more of a "Beachcomber Bill*" fan. I loved Touché Turtle!
About a year ago, I remembered that fantastic theme of "The
Virginian" after about 10 minutes of trying. I hadn't heard it in
about 35 years. I then found it on Youtube, so now I can whistle it
at any time.
Another time, I heard a concerto by Mozart. About 10 years later, I
heard the same piece, but the solo instrument was different, and I
recognized it right away, and noticed that the solo instrument was
different. If I could remember names and faces that well, I'd be
much happier.
*The theme of Beachcomber Bill was "Baby Elephant Walk" and, yes, I
can hum it without hesitation.

P.S. Yesterday, I had some stupid ditty about home loans going through
my head. Fortunately, I got it out of my head, and it hasn't returned!
